Commercial Solar Panel Installation: Garth West Packaging Hull

We’re proud to shine a spotlight on one of our most powerful commercial solar installations to date, completed for Garth West, a respected packaging company based in Hull. As rising energy costs and sustainability commitments continue to shape business strategy across the UK, Garth West has made a decisive move towards energy independence, and the results are as impressive as they are inspiring.
Spread across the rooftop of their facility is a high-performance array of 360 Jinko 435W bi-facial solar panels, delivering a total system capacity of 156.6kW. These state-of-the-art panels work tirelessly to convert solar energy into a consistent, renewable power supply that fuels daily operations.
But a solar array is only as good as its engine room, and that’s where our expertly integrated system takes it to the next level. At the core of the installation are five SigEnergy 20kW 3-phase hybrid inverters, ensuring smooth, intelligent energy management throughout the site. Supporting this is a robust 192kWh of Sigenstor battery storage, made up of 24 ultra-efficient 8kWh modules, designed to store surplus solar power and provide energy security around the clock.
To future-proof the site’s transition to cleaner transport, the system also includes 3 x 22kW SigEV chargers and a 25kW DC charger, making it one of the most comprehensive commercial solar and battery storage setups we’ve deployed to date.

The Impact: Savings, Sustainability & Serious ROI
From the outset, our team worked hand-in-hand with Garth West to design a tailored commercial solar and battery storage solution that would align perfectly with their site, usage profile, and environmental targets.
This isn’t just a solar installation, it’s a future-proofed energy strategy built to deliver long-term value and sustainability benefits, including:
- £715,955 in estimated lifetime savings on energy bills
- 25.7 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided every year
- 769,023 kilometres of car travel offset annually
- 4,944 trees planted (equivalent carbon offset over the system’s life)
- 550 long-haul flights avoided, a major win for corporate sustainability reporting
From day one, Garth West began seeing measurable savings and environmental impact, and with energy prices only continuing to rise, those benefits will compound year after year. This system doesn’t just cut costs, it futureproofs the business.
Why More Businesses Are Going Solar
In an era of rising operational costs and increasing environmental responsibility, commercial solar is fast becoming a cornerstone of smart business strategy. Investing in solar panels allows companies to significantly reduce their reliance on the grid, cutting down energy bills and locking in lower costs for decades to come. But it doesn’t stop there.
When solar is combined with modern battery storage systems, like the Sigenstor, businesses can store excess energy for use during peak tariff times or grid outages, further enhancing energy independence and resilience. This makes a particularly big difference for operations with high energy demands or those running around the clock. And with the electric vehicle revolution well underway, integrating commercial EV chargers on-site offers even greater benefits, whether for fleet charging, employee convenience, or as a value-added service for customers.
Altogether, solar panels, battery storage, and EV charging create a future-proof energy ecosystem that not only reduces overheads but also supports sustainability goals and boosts green credentials: key factors in securing investor confidence, meeting ESG targets, and appealing to an increasingly eco-conscious customer base. Simply put, commercial solar isn’t just good for the planet, it makes solid financial and strategic sense.
